Dome Ports and Housings for Smart Phones and Action Cameras
phonedomes, a new photographic and video related undertaking of mine. As I look to diversify in life I've added an endeavor to set up an online store as an agent for underwater housings and dome port products for smart devices and action cameras. So many folks are attracted to to the Ocean for leisure, sports and imaging. But cut into that mix adventure sports such as Canyoneering, river rafting, caving etc. All challenging environments, due to the liquid environment, for our cameras be they smart devices or action cameras. A lot of the newer iterations of smart devices and action cameras tend to be waterproof straight out of the box so how is this relevant?
My argument is that in the first regard the housing offers a secondary level of protection to your device. It can get knocked, dinged or dropped without posing too much a threat to your electronic possession. Secondly and most importantly it allows the user to create pretty unique images, I like to call them memories, whenever they're put to use. Split Water shots cannot be accomplished unless you have a dome port. The port pushes away the waterline from the camera lens and allows that then to become a creative transition line between the life and wonders that may be found below the water and the action and beauty of what's happening above the water. It's a wide creative playground out there.
Being based in Okinawa I'm blessed with having not just the incredible coral gardens and shallow reefs to swim and marvel in, but what about those waterfalls? River walks with friends and kids allows the option to create pretty special moments to be cherished. While my own housing and dome port is relatively new I'm now out with a vengeance looking to create a bank of images to better promote the product to the local market here.
With the majority of people owning smart devices the main thing that sold me on this product was the universal housing for smart phones. If there's one thing I disliked about the underwater housing market is that you'd have one housing for one model. When manufacturers then introduce the next model of smart device the form factor changes leaving you needing another housing because sure as heck, your old housing just became obsolete. With the GDome Mobile that is something of the past. This product fits all smart devices, irrespective of operating system, up to a length of 6 1/2". So cool.
Given my son is also a fish out of water the plan is to now embark, in complete peace of mind knowing that my smart phone is pretty safe, on building that family album of our interactions with the Ocean, Rivers and Waterfalls of Okinawa. Our favorite thus far has been an incredible family camping trip to the Kerama Islands. Swimming with Turtles, across shallow reefs and just investigating rock pools was a pretty wild and awesome adventure, one aided with the memories captured forever with the employment of a dome port and housing.
During our first ever trip to the Kerama Islands our son, Joshua, got to meet and play with Sea Turtles for the first time.
The only way to take awesome split water shots is to use a Dome Port to push the water line away from the camera lens.
Okinawa is home to so much wildlife. A trip to the Kerama Islands is a must to swim with ancient Ocean going mariners!
There's nothing greater than seeing a smile from ear to ear on your children's faces. At a young age this is unfiltered happiness.
