To turn this climate issue around we need first to change our approach to ourselves and humanity.

Solutions, we're all looking for solutions. As environmentalists, conservationists and all manner of environment and wildlife NGO's prepare for what many are saying is potentially the most important climate change conference of modern times, we're all waiting with bated breath. The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, is the 26th United Nations Climate Change conference. It is scheduled to be held in the city of Glasgow, Scotland, between 31 October and 12 November 2021, under the presidency of the United Kingdom. For those of us with an interest, more a passion, about the state of our World and the impact climate change is having and will continue to wreak on it, this is ground zero.

Time is of the essence to turn things around.

I'm also of the mind that we are going to see unbelievably saddening scenes from the policing of the event given the UK's recently introduced laws that forbid the basic human right of protest. As someone recently highlighted on Twitter "It's unbelievable that the British Secretary of State, Priti Patel, is able to push through a law that seals legal loopholes in the right to lawful assembly to stop any form of public protest while her counterpart, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, fails to close legal taxation loopholes to stop tax dodgers in light of the recent Pandora Papers scandal".

Concerns on what to do in the face of climate collapse and the massively unpopular fossil fuel industries and exponents are plentiful. Change is the underlying demand but there are a myriad of tabled ways on how to get accomplish that. The masses are demanding more petitions, hashtags and revolutionary tactics. Others are suggesting direct, non-violent action whereas others are saying that the time for dancing is done. Petitions haven't worked in numerous decades, hashtags do nothing, sentiments are only that if no action stems from them.

In reality what is the key, how can this all turn around? In my mind that key is initially found within us ourselves, as the tweet to the left here reinforces. Mankind has got to come to terms with adjusting itself to become honest, benevolent and equal in and amongst himself if we are to step forward on the same page. We have to get away from the pervasive mentality of just taking what we want, when we want it just because we can. Without giving anything back we are fooling no-one, but ourselves.

Now this may all feel like an attack on ourselves but it is the first step we need to take. Now the age old adversary, the fossil fuel industry, the loggers the destroyers of the environment. All of those entities are in the habit of making absolutely perverse amounts of money to let a little thing like climate change and environmental catastrophe's get in the way. The collapse of the Natural World means nothing to them, they cannot see the detrimental link of their actions being interwoven with the very survival of man as a species. Now you all know me, I'm open to Alien Concepts when it comes to the need for drastic change. There are numerous discussions throughout the social media platforms that step into the realm of 'drastic' to say the least. From those suggesting an ending to the artificial extending of life, doing away with all forms of medicinal aid and thus, the same as wildlife, dying when it is our pre-ordained time and not when all efforts to artificially extend our presence on earth expire. Then you have the forced population reduction fraternity. Enough said on that. Global One Child Policy?

For me I'm of the mind that we can make a difference using the tools we have at our discretion. We have technology, we have a passion. Fuse the two. Needless to say there will be massive kickback from the sectors such as big oil, the meat industry, the forest destroyers and earth plunderers will be up in arms, but that is what it will take. It's also safe to say that while many of us are here today and very loud in our protestations it could very well be that due to the requirement of time many of us won't see the outcome of any campaigns that may start now, or anytime soon.

OK so theoretically. Let's suggest the creation of a social network hosted on the tor browser, the spooky 'dark web'. What is Tor Browser you may ask? The Tor (the onion routing) browser is a web browser designed for anonymous web surfing and protection against traffic analysis. Although Tor is often associated with the 'darknet' and criminal activity, law enforcement officials, reporters, activists, whistleblowers and ordinary security-conscious individuals often use the browser for legitimate reasons. And what could be more legitimate than wanting to save the planet?

Every great journey starts with just one step.

As a platform the social network would be simplified with features simply showing a microblogging feed such as Twitter. Nothing would be secretive within the platform. Unlike on Facebook where individuals can create Closed and even Secret Groups everything on this site would be available to all members. There would be no distinction between members, between celebrity or commerce. Everything on the Tor foundation is encrypted. It is incredibly difficult to locate individuals or detect structure to websites located on it etc. Each username would be alphanumeric to further protect identities. The key to the success of the platform would be that it would be a paid membership. Why? To generate the commodity we need to change things around, money. Play money against money. There is only a certain amount of money any detrimental industry would be willing to expend if they know it will continue to be matched and surpassed by those who seek to do good.

Imagine if you could a membership subscription fee of say $10 a month, $15 or even $20. What is $20 a month for those of us in the 'developed' world? The cost of an overpriced and branded coffee and donut of a morning. Now multiply that by one million members, two million, ten million, one hundred million members. What would that give the network? It would give money, and with money, comes power. Imagine an entity that could generate $100m or $10bn a month in available revenue to be spent on projects to counter the damage done by industries detrimental to the health of our planet! The purchasing of massive tracts of natural lands, rainforests etc and safeguarding them for wildlife with conditions they will never be exploited by man. Any lands purchased, and thus the wildlife found therein, would be lobbied to be recognized as living entities, to be afforded the same rights as homo sapiens. All natural spaces would then be entered into a Charter of Humanity Assets.

In that same vein imagine the positive ramifications of being able to establish a network of Plasma Gasification plants in strategic and heavily polluted locations around the World to address the issues of plastic and other such pollution. Numerous options within the setting up of such plants would incentivize local citizens to bring waste to said plants in return for direct financial compensation. Financial incentives to recycle. A win for locals. Such polluted places tend to be in some of the poorest locations on earth so this would be a way of getting impoverished communities back into a mentality of positive and viable action.

From there other options would be the installation of Solar Farms to help power national grids. Our Sun bakes our earth with enough solar power in one day to power it for a year. Imagine being able to harness that and be completely free of the need for fossil fuels. Imagine capping the last oil pipe and never again having to see nature repeatedly tarred by spills from old and damaged oil industry infrastructures.

Further investments in farming would enable mankind to better manage its food resources and cultivation. Could we ever get back to accepting Ocean going wind powered transport? Again an Alien concept but learning to live slower, with less. Lowering our goals doesn't mean foresaking a quality of life, in fact looking at it honestly it could very well improve our lives. Imagine shaking the stresses of tight work schedules, of aiming for the stars with a business venture but you haven't 'cracked' the US or Asian markets yet. What are your expectations for life? To live comfortably enough to provide for one's family? To leave a small endowment so your children have a little leg up on their journey when they set out on their own? It's attainable, when we aim for less. Having more time for family and friends, for nature. All seems a little bit too perfect. We are, thus allowed to dream.

Biggest question: Could it work?
Unless mankind can change its cynicism I think not at this time. Would there ever be harmony with regards to which projects are financed and in what order? Beyond that there is the question of accountability. Given the vast potential sums of money involved there will always be doubt and suspicion as to the integrity of the people at the helm. Sadly that is human nature. If that could be proven to be wrong then I think we would be somewhere. Alas at this time it is merely a concept, an idea, one of many. This is after all the exact characteristic of man that needs to change if change is going to be allowed to happen. We need unity, trust and support for each other. We need to be on the same page with the same vision chasing the same goals. I personally don't think change can come in any other way. You know it's sad in a way that there has to be a fiscally associated option for any government or industry to sit up and take note. The change we need to make should come by virtue of us all simply realizing that we've taken way too much, for way too long. Anything else is simply rose colored glasses and unattainable. But I'd love to be proved wrong.

Who's in?

"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any".
