A Hawksbill Turtle at Zamami Island
Sea Turtle in the Kerama Islands
For this photograph, I was floating just off Zamami Island in the Keramas, working to capture the elegance of a sea turtle in its natural element. I used a 12mm super wide-angle lens inside an Aquatech Surf Housing fitted with a huge 16-inch dome port, which allowed me to create a striking split-water effect, balancing the world above and below the surface. The turtle, curious but cautious, lingered just beneath the waterline and came close enough for me to frame it perfectly. Patience was essential here, as these animals are easily spooked, but after quietly waiting and moving slowly, I was rewarded with a moment that felt both intimate and powerful—an image that truly reflects the pristine waters and remarkable wildlife of Zamami.
