For this photograph of the Kerama Islands, I composed the frame with textured rocks in the near water to anchor the foreground, leading the eye across a crystal-clear, aquamarine lagoon toward one of the islands rising in the middle distance. The clarity of the water revealed subtle tones and patterns beneath the surface, while above, a brilliant summer sky stretched wide and open, adorned with delicate, drifting wisps of cloud. The balance of land, sea, and sky created a tranquil scene that captures the pristine beauty and inviting atmosphere of the Keramas on a perfect summer’s day.
