For this image, I used my Tamron 150–600mm zoom lens to capture an intimate portrait of the Okinawa Rail, a rare and endemic bird found only in the Yambaru region. I spotted it foraging quietly along a roadside verge, partially hidden among the lush green vegetation of the jungle. By keeping a respectful distance and relying on the reach of the telephoto lens, I was able to frame the Rail in sharp detail while allowing the soft blur of the surrounding foliage to create a natural frame. The result is a glimpse into the secretive life of one of Okinawa’s most unique wildlife treasures.
