Sunset at the Surface
This sunset image was taken with my camera fitted inside a surf housing, allowing me to position the lens at an extremely low angle, almost brushing the surface of the water. Using a wide-angle lens with a wide aperture, I focused on the near water elements so that the droplets and ripples closest to me stood sharp, while the glowing orb of the setting sun softened into a blurred bokeh glow in the background. The soaked hues of the sky — deep oranges, rich purples, and fading golds — reflected off the water’s surface, creating a painterly texture of light and color. Floating there in the calm, with the ocean’s surface stretching endlessly around me, I felt a sense of tranquility that I wanted the image itself to hold, as if the entire moment had slowed down to let the sunset linger.
