Looking at a new way to convey the utter magic of a setting sun over the Ocean. Shooting with a wide open aperture allows only certain areas of the image to be focused allowing the remaining blur to invoke the imagination as to how the scene would be complete. A very artsy style of imaging that allows the owner to sit beneath a perpetual sunset from the stunning location of Okinawa, Japan. If this is an image you’d like to […]

Sometimes in extreme cases the colors of the Okinawa sunsets can be so intensely vivid. On this particular evening, the skies turned a deep red. I had my long telephoto lens fitted, so I opted for the aesthetic of small clouds passing in front of the setting sun. It seemed like everyone walking along the Sunabe Seawall, where this shot was taken, had all stopped in their tracks to witness these bleeding skies on this very special evening. For Okinawa […]

Toguchi Beach in Yomitan is a family favorite, given its proximity to areas of relatively high population. It’s not uncommon to see numerous newlyweds having their wedding photographs taken, family photoshoots underway, and lots of local and international families sharing the sands of this favorite and picturesque location. For Okinawa based clients only this artwork is available in a high quality photo paper framed print in either A3 or A4 size. If ordering one of these size options please be […]

Casting one’s eye to the west of Okinawa, there are floating gems on the distant horizon. The Kerama Islands, on a nightly basis, are drenched in the golden hues of the setting sun. When photographed with a long telephoto lens, they seem to almost float above the water’s surface, in doing so, intensifying their mystical appeal. These are the islands of crystalline waters where Sea Turtles frolic and the sands are made of stars. They beckon the adventurous traveler. For […]

Sunset on Okinawa, I was scouring for compositions around Cape Zanpa. Famous for its lighthouse I was looking for something different, something fresh. There are numerous little coves and bays in the jagged coastline so will a bit of scouring around I found myself on the beach of this setting. Using a long exposure technique I was able to retain the sharpness of the inanimate objects but get the streaky effect of the receding water from around the two pieces […]

Stoked to say that this pile of rocks is literally a five minute walk from my apartment in Okinawa. It’s the perfect place to shoot long exposure imagery especially when shooting this image the Ocean was relatively agitated. All it takes to tame the raging seas is a super long exposure, in this case 300sec or 5min. The waters become a silken carpet that transport the hues of a tropical sunset. On this particular day the palette was significantly one […]
