Typhoons are something that happen frequently in the Okinawa prefecture. From small tropical squalls to Category 5 batten down the hatches and hold on the the dog mind benders. But they survive. The islanders are very much used to it so as a new comer I tend to stick by the standard, in the event of an impending storm, do as the locals do. Many visitors to the island tend to overemphasize storms, the locals know where it’s at! The image shows Cape Zanpa during a time of elevated winds. Those cliffs are anywhere between 60 to 100ft high.
