When a panning technique is used, it is normally associated with tripod use. In this instance, I threw away the constraints of using that piece of hardware and simply panned handheld. After a few attempts I found I could track the incoming small waves to get this unique and engaging look that is a mix of textures, colors, and the hint of ghost waves as they form in the imagination of the viewer.
