PK9

There’s a small atoll lost in the vast expanse of the Pacific ocean. It makes up part of the Tuamotu archipelago in French Polynesia. Accessible only by a puddle jumping domestic flight from the main island of Tahiti, or indeed a supply ship that meanders through these picture postcard settings. It’s a long peddle past the landing strip of the islands airport to a beach marked simply with a distance marker; PK9. This unique vista is however sadly no more. This lazy palm tree recently fell victim to a strong typhoon that passed through the islands, the name of this one that hangs in the breeze, Fakarava. In all my travels, this is indeed, heaven on Earth.
