When Rocks Explode

Print Description

Something is captivating about the violence of water as it shoots skyward on impact with immovable objects such as cliff bases or rocks. This very prominent set of rocks located just offshore from Cape Zampa are often the scene of massive impacts of water when large swells, or typhoons, are crashing ashore in Okinawa. I watch as plumes of water rocket skyward and use a slower-than-normal shutter to try to capture that violence with motion blur.
