Even a relatively small curling wave can be conveyed photographically to have impact and show it to have power and dynamic appeal. Shot using an 85mm lens allowed me to stand back and track the evolution of this small wave through to the point where I clicked the shutter to capture the moment it rolled over into a barreling vortex. Slowly working my way to larger waves as winter pushes through I’m hoping to be visiting more consequential reef breaks as time rolls on.
Power and energy of a breaking wave is always something that enthralls me. Especially when stood at very close quarters.
