A genre of imaging that’s growing on me, and one that really hones in on the motion of the ocean is known as ICM, or intentional camera movement. While many people may suggest this would result in an out of focus image, if done ‘correctly’ these hand held long exposures with intentional movement can yield incredible results. Shot with a very weak ND2 filter this shot at sunset allowed me to pan with a small incoming wave to create this dreamy kind of shoreline. By using longer shutter speeds this can then give rise to all manner of thought inspiring media. Remember, it’s not always the camera that needs focusing!
