Every now and then we get massive swells landing along the western coastline of Okinawa, particularly in winter given that is the given surf season on the island. One of my favorite places to photograph at any time of the year is Cape Zampa. However in winter none of the established photographic vantage points are available given they tend to be getting slammed by massive pounding swells and waves. This in itself allows me the opportunity to document the intense power of mother nature at this stunning location on the island. I can, and often do, spend whole days just watching the Ocean rear up and fold in half as it writhes in anger.
